Prerequisites:
In accordance with the second clause of article 6 of
Ministerial Decree (D.M.) 509/99 and article 5 of the
University Didactic Regulations, students wishing to
enroll in the specialized degree in Business Economics
must have already obtained a degree from the
Classification “Economic Sciences and Business Management”
(Classification 17) or a degree from the Classification
“Economic Sciences” (Classification 28), or another
recognized degree, including a recognized degree from a
foreign institution.
Students in possession of a three-year degree in Business
Economics, Financial Administration and Control, or
Internationalization of Business from the Faculty of
Economics of the University of Urbino will be granted
recognition for 180 credits toward the requirements of the
specialized degree program. The recognition of credits
accumulated in other three-year degree programs in the
Faculty of Economics may be permitted without the
requirement of recuperative course-work if deemed to be
appropriate for the pursuit of the specialized degree.
Other students may be admitted to the specialized degree
program after having satisfied designated recuperative
requirements, based on a verification of basic entry
requirements established by the Faculty.
Teaching objectives:
The course prepares the student with a deepened
understanding of evolved structures and processes
operating within a company, as well as economic,
accounting, and legal methods and techniques relevant to
the operation of a company. This specialized degree aims
at creating highly qualified professionals able to take on
managerial roles in the different operational areas of a
firm – on the line or staff positions – as well as roles
more strictly defined as external consulting primarily
associated with the activities of the business consultant,
according to the contents of the reform of this profession
currently being drafted. For the purpose of developing a
managerial and/or entrepreneurial curriculum, the course
provides an integrated view of economic problems of
company operation – whether industrial or service oriented
– with specialized theoretical and practical understanding.
In developing professional skills, the courses focus on
the acquisition of methodologies, understanding, and
quantitative analytical techniques necessary for working
in business consulting or firm consulting whether external
or internal (as staff, with respect to the Directors). To
this end, the course is a coherent two-year development of
the three year degrees in Administration, Finance and
Control, Business Economics, The Internationalization of
Business. The teaching objectives are reached through
activities, beyond classroom lessons, that include
laboratory work and work-study placements in companies or
professional offices that allow the student to acquire
both theoretical and practical understanding.
Possible areas of employment for students
in this program.
This degree offers the student many employment
possibilities in different areas according to the study
path chosen. One path trains company managers both in
industry and services. Another path allows the student to
take the state exam for business consulting or to work in
the consulting field (external or internal) in various
areas of company administration and management.
General outline of teaching activities.
The specialized degree in Business Economics is a two year
degree course. By the end of the degree the student must
have accumulated 300 credits, of which 180 come from
credits acquired in Faculty’s three-year degree program in
Business Economics, Administration Finance and Control, or
Internationalization of Business, Classification 17, or
recognized in terms of course credits. The specific
teaching activities associated with each educational
activity are stipulated by the didactic regulation for
study courses adopted by the Council of the Faculty of
Economics.

In compliance with Comma 2 of Article 6 of Ministerial
Decree 509/99, and Article 5 of the Didactic Regulation of
the University, the course will admit students in
possession of a degree from the Classification of degrees
in Economic Sciences and Business Management, -
Classification 17, a degree from the Classification of
degrees in Economic Sciences - Classification 28, or
another suitable and recognized degree, including foreign
degrees.
Students in possession of a three-year degree in Business
and Commerce from the Faculty of Economics of the
University of Urbino will have 180 credits recognized and
integrated for admission to the specialized degree
program. Recognition of credits acquired in the three-year
degree, among other degrees from the Faculty of Economics
of the University of Urbino, occurs without additional
recuperative requirements depending on the study path
chosen.
Other students may be admitted to the specialized degree
program in Business and Commerce after having satisfied
assigned recuperative requirements, on the basis of an
evaluation of required entry preparation established by
the Faculty.
Teaching objectives.
The specialized degree program in Business and Commerce
aims at creating highly qualified professionals able to
work within firms, financial institutions, international
bodies, research centers and public organizations at the
national and local level. The courses are designed to
deepen the students’ understanding of tools of economic
analysis, business economics, law, and
mathematics-statistics used for studying markets,
technological contexts, the public sector and other
institutions, and economic and territorial policy. Skills
acquired are multidisciplinary in nature, so as to allow
access to different sectors of the economy. In order to
facilitate the acquisition of skills in areas of the real
economy and economic policies, the following aspects will
be focus on:
a) the evolution of sectors of production and the
diffusion of industrial innovation,
b) processes of economic development with particular
attention to territorial variations,
c) the problems of regulation and public intervention on
different levels that promote dynamics of structural
transformation in the economy.
On the themes of Financial Economics, the program aims at
creating professionals who know how to analyze and resolve
problems typical to financial institutions, banks, and
insurance companies within a context of increasing
international market integration, and problems of
evaluation, selection and finance of industrial company
investment projects. As well, the program offers the
possibility of deepening understanding of institutional
profiles and theoretical, quantitative, and IT tools
useful for studying national and international financial
markets.

in this program.
The course paths in areas of real economy and economic
policy have various professional applications in: firms,
research centers, international organizations, and public
institutions – particularly in regional and local bodies –
with responsibilities in analysis, planning and evaluation
of strategies and policies, as well as teaching and
consulting activities. The course path in financial
economics has professional applications in: banks,
insurance, other financial institutions, for research
activities and financial analysis and management.

Teaching objectives.
The objective of the specialized degree program in
Marketing and Business Communication is to create
professionals with highly qualified technical and
managerial skills for managing relationships between
companies and their markets. The program aims, on one hand,
at developing skills necessary for theoretical
organization of problems and continuous learning, and on
the other, at the acquisition of technical understanding
and abilities applicable in:
market at consumer analysis. To this end the program
studies multidisciplinary interpretive models, research
techniques for information collection, mathematical and
statistical methods for the elaboration of data, the
formulation of competitive strategies and strategic
choices in marketing. To this end the program develops an
integrated and systemic vision of business functions, an
understanding of interpretive models of factors that
determine business competitiveness, the study of
analytical techniques for market segmentations, brand
positioning, the evaluation of economic consequences of
marketing decisions, the comprehension of sector
specificity of operational marketing models,
the planning of marketing policies, with particular
reference to communication policies. To this end the
program , beyond offering classes, seminars, and exercises
involving specific problems to be solved when making such
decisions, develops understanding and skills in using IT
and applying new opportunities offered by the evolution of
communication technology,
the organization of marketing functions. To this end the
program analyses usable organizational models, problems
involving human resource management, and regulations of
labour relations,
the comprehension of the environment in which businesses
operate. To this end the program offers studies that
further understanding of economic systems and the rules
and institutions that regulate them.
Possible areas of employment for students
in this program.
The program has various professional applications covering
managerial roles even at the middle-high level in the area
of marketing in many sectors. The possibilities, in fact,
allow further study aimed at employment in small, medium,
and large companies, the agricultural, industrial, or
service sectors, in consulting and new professions
connected with the development of IT and communications.
